Homeschool Haven Co-op
Homeschool Haven in McDonough is currently open for enrollment. They are a homeschool co-op serving kindergarten through third grade with a plan to expand into fourth to sixth grade as they continue to grow. Homeschool Haven has been in operation since 2023. It was originally founded by a small group of homeschooling moms who shared a vision for a supportive and inclusive learning community. Homeschool Haven was inspired by the vision to create a “haven” for homeschoolers.
“As an autism mom, I wanted to help build a welcoming, supportive space where children can engage in hands-on learning, build friendships, and feel a strong sense of belonging,” says co-founder, Ryan Dixon. Ryan began homeschooling her children six years ago when her oldest son was in first grade. “We knew early on that public school was not the ideal learning environment for him, and homeschooling allowed us to better support his individual needs and growth.”
Over the years I have heard many moms say that they struggle with the “messy subjects." Homeschool Haven caters to these families by offering hands-on science and art classes. They also build in intentional social time through recess and shared lunch, helping students develop friendships, communication skills, and community.
“We use a whole-child approach, focusing not only on academics but also on social, emotional, and developmental growth. Our goal is to support each child as an individual and create a positive, encouraging learning environment.” emphasizes Ryan
Currently Homeschool Haven has eight spots available in their afternoon classes. The pricing for this co-op is great and includes a $25 non-refundable registration fee and is $25 per month. They ask for a semester commitment rather than month-to-month because it helps keep things consistent for the kids and makes it easier for them to plan their schedule.
If you’re interested in meeting the Homeschool Haven ladies, they’re working on planning a Field Day that’ll be open to the community! “It should be a fun, low-pressure way to come meet us and see what we’re about. We’ll share details on our social media pages once it’s all finalized,” says Ryan
If you are interested in joining Homeschool Haven for their 2026-2027 school year, reach out to them at www.homeschoolhavenassociation.org. They welcome families from all backgrounds, their leadership is personally rooted in faith, and they are grateful to partner with First Baptist Church of McDonough, which generously provides space for their program.
